Introduction and Work Experience

Tom Hasman for Rochester City Council 2017Tom Hasman was born in Rochester.  He grew up in Webster with his mother, father and nine siblings (six sisters and three brothers).  Tom attended SUNY Oswego as a double major and graduated with degrees in Political Science and Sociology in 1995.  In his senior year at Oswego, Tom was accepted on an internship at the White House under President Clinton working in the National Economic Council (NEC).  After graduation, Tom stayed at the White House working as a Staff Assistant in the National Security Council (NSC).  While working at the White House, he earned his Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University in Government in 1999.  Tom currently works from home as the Information Security Risk Manager for CSRA based out of Falls Church, VA.

Political Background

Tom joined the “Al Eisenberg for Virginia State Delegate” campaign as a volunteer in May 2003.  During the campaign, he spent a majority of his time with the candidate walking door-to-door canvassing.  By the end of the campaign, Al and Tom had visited over 1,100 houses in Arlington County.  Upon winning the election, Tom went to work part-time as Delegate Eisenberg’s Arlington County District Representative.  He coordinated constituent requests in Arlington during the Legislative Session.  In January 2005, Tom was named campaign manager for the “Re-elect Al Eisenberg for Virginia State Delegate” campaign.  Delegate Eisenberg won a second term in the November 2005 election.

After spending almost 10 years in Arlington, VA, Tom moved back home to Rochester in January 2006.  Tom joined the 23rd Legislative Committee in the spring of 2006.  He is now entering his 11th year on the 23rd LD committee and during this time has served as Secretary (2007-2008) and Chair (2009-2013).

Tom was the Democratic candidate for Monroe County Clerk in 2008.  He has also volunteered on many campaigns including NY State Assembly races for Joe Morelle and Harry Bronson.  He has also been a regular volunteer at the Monroe County Democratic Committee (MCDC) headquarters including making get out the vote (GOTV) calls in many election years and door-to-door canvasing for local candidates.

Family

Tom Hasman with Family for Rochester City Council 2017Tom and his wife, Linda, whom he met when both were undergraduate students at SUNY Oswego, were married in October 1999.  They live in the city of Rochester and have two children – Sam 10 and Abby 7.  Rounding out their family is a 13-year old beagle named Basco.
